Last week one of my clients who owned a website targeted at American audience told me he fired one of his writers.
Why? The writer submitted AI generated articles. You know that’s like the fastest way to get your website discredited and blocked so my client wasn’t having it.
If you’re a content writer, the first rule you should keep in mind is that research is a priority. You can’t escape it if you want to build a career in content writing.
Whether you are familiar with the topic or not, you have to do an in depth research before picking your pen. Expand your knowledge about the topic, go above and beyond what is needed to write an exceptional content and make your work original.
Do the work. Do not plagiarize. Copying other people’s work may seem smart but it discredits you as a writer, and frustrates your client when they find out. And they definitely will.
If you have picked out a niche, research helps you get familiar with that niche so you can become an expert or an authority in it. If you are a multi-niche writer like myself, research is more essential to you. You will sometimes have to write on topics you have no knowledge about. Yet you have to come up with a great content. In depth research is what can help you achieve this.
It will seem like a lot at first and feel like it takes forever especially if it’s an unfamiliar topic but it gets better and down the line, you’ll be glad you paid the price.
