When you say you are a reader and people ask you to mention some of the books you’ve read, they expect to hear you mention books like “The Art of War”, “Atomic Habits”, “Rich Dad Poor Dad”, etc..

When you start mentioning fictional books like romance, crime, paranormal, etc. they squeeze their faces with disapproval. They immediately dismiss these books and consider you unserious. “We are talking about serious books, and you are mentioning “Sacred sins” by Nora Roberts. Who’s that?

Readers are leaders do not apply to readers of fictional books in their opinion. Last year December, an X (Twitter) user uploaded a screenshot of her phone library to show how many books she had read that year, it was quite a lot. A lot of people commented that those could not be considered books because they were mostly romance.

So I’m asking you. Do you think non-fiction books are more important than fictional books? Do you consider someone who mostly reads novels a reader?
